Recommended Computer Hardware for WinCan.
- Operating System: Windows XP SP2; XP is provided by WinCan as a standard, various hardware devices do not function with Windows 2000. The Vitek MPEG 1/2/4 board is tested and supported with Windows XP.
- Processor: 3.6 Ghz Pentium IV, minimum 2.4 Ghz recommended
- Memory: 1 GB RAM, 512K cache minimum
- Storage: 120 GB hard drive, 52x CD-RW, DVD-RW or other high capacity storage device for transporting and backing up data (40 GB hard drive minimum). Removable or external 40 GB hard drive suggested if utilizing WinCan's digital software option.
- Video: Matrox Marvel GE450 ETV capture board or if using XP (not 2000) ATI All-in-Wonder 9600 board
- Computer monitor: minimum 1024 x 768 resolution.
- Ports: 1 parallel/2 serial ports. Please note that two serial ports are used for the overlay and video recorder communication. If you are not in need of one of these hardware devices, eliminate ports as appropriate. A USB port is necessary for the security device that is provided as the license for accessing WinCan.
- Input Devices: Windows keyboard and mouse (some wireless keyboard and mice are known to conflict with the USB license drivers for the Alladin dongle/WinCan license)
- Printer: HP 900 series, any model.
- Industrial Casing: If using WinCan in a mobile unit, we recommend a Chenbro chassis (www.chenbro.com). The casing helps to protect against vibration, provides extra heating and cooling, adds an extra filtration system to keep away dust, and holds internal PC parts in place. For more information on this casing, contact our office and we will provide specifications.
Inspection Hardware.
WinCan interfaces with CCTV systems from all manufacturers.
Display/Titler Control
License Setup: For WinCan office licenses that do not require WinCan to input distance for each observation automatically and display the observation onscreen, the hardware below is not required.
Auto Distance & Observation Display: Users without automatic distance input can configure WinCan to prompt operator input of distance as observations/defects are selected.
Users without automatic observation display can manually type information on their existing keyboard/overlay system.
